It is impossible, literally impossible, to complain about a recipe that has Jack Daniels in it. So here are a few easy recipes you can get yourself into:
- French Toast Batter:
Seriously, I am always looking for excuses to have alcohol at breakfast, and this one clearly falls under the “Come on, all the alcohol burns off, right?”. I sure hope not. The method is pretty simple. For 2 or 3 servings of French Toast, just add 1 shot of Jack Daniels. You may want to add a little vanilla extract as well, which tends to settle the Jack Daniels flavor a bit. Use a light amber maple syrup or dusting of confectioner’s sugar, though, you don’t want to drown out that sweet sweet JD flavor. - Barbeque Sauce:
Everyone goes and buys the Jack Daniels BBQ sauce from the grocery store. Honestly, do you think there is anything discernible as Jack Daniels left in that sauce? Let’s fix that. Half a shot per 8 ounces of any BBQ sauce is more than enough. In this case, you probably want to go with a darker, molasses base sauce rather than a tangy or honey based starter. Lather it on good. - White Wine Deglazed Sauce:
I know, seems a little weird right, but trust me. The next time you are making a dish like a Chicken Saltimboca, add a shot of Jack Daniels to the white wine deglaze process. In this case, most of the alcohol will burn off. It will slightly sweeten the sauce while, at the same time, cutting back some of the acidity of your average white wine sauce. - Pumpkin Pie:
Come on, you know this is gonna be good. Just substitute a little Jack for some of the required liquid ingredients. This is much better with home-made pumpkin pie than the chunk in a can method. And, no, you cant just pour Jack on top of a piece of pumpkin pie. - Whipped Cream:
Drop a half shot of Jack, some vanilla flavoring and a little fresh ground ginger into the mix. This tangy whipped cream is frickin awesome and will only take an extra 30 seconds to put together. The best part, no cooking, so all of that alcohol goodness goes straight to your head.

Bourbon: The Secret of My Cranberry Sauce’s Success
2 cups fresh cranberries
2 shots Jack (or your fave)
1/2 cup sugar
juice of 4 oranges
zest of 1 orange
Reduce berries, sugar, and bourbon. Add the orange juice and zest. Continue to simmer.
*(Nuts and/or other berries optional. Bourbon, sugar, and orange amounts are subjective; mileage may vary.)
